April 20, 2012Guestbook Ideas

Trying to find an alternative to the common guestbook? Here are some ideas that are  cute, creative and a perfect way to let your guests write you some words of congratulations.

I really love this idea. You fill a blank guest book with little envelopes (preferably in your wedding colours) and then have a stack of note cards beside the book. Your guests can write you a message on the notecards and then choose an envelope to put their message in. I think it would be really fun to go through the guestbook after the wedding and read all of the notes in the envelopes!

This next idea is really cute. You lay out a variety of postcards and have your guests write you a message on the back. This would be even more personal if you had postcards from all of the places that you had been together or (dream to go). After the wedding, you can through all of the post cards and put them into a book.

I attended a wedding a few years ago that had this next idea as there guestbook and it was SO fun! This idea goes especially well if you are thinking of having a photo booth at your wedding. Have guests go into the photo booth and get their pictures taken. After the pictures are printed off, they glue them into an album and write a few words to the bride and groom. By doing this, you not only have peoples names and their kind words but you also get to see pictures of them whenever you look through your book!

The last idea that I am going to share, is especially lovely because it is also a piece of art that you can hang in your home after the wedding. You need hearts (or any other shape) cut out and folded in half. At the wedding, you can lay all of the hearts out and have each guest write something on a heart. After the wedding, arrange the hearts in a square around a heart with your initials. So adorable!

March 13, 2012Cake Stands

A cake stand is such a beautiful way to showcase your wedding cake. I am a big fan of pedestal cake stands and I would love to share a few of my favorites with you.

I found this gorgeous glass cake stand from My Sweet and Saucy. My eye is instantly drawn to the feminine touches of this stand. The details of the scalloped edging and the curvy base are just so pretty. This cake stand would look great paired with a chic and simple cake, or a more ruffled flowery cake.

I instantly fell in love with this artsy cake stand! The simple top paired with the beaded base is such a unique combination. I have never seen a cake stand quite like this. I think this cake stand would look amazing holding up a clean and simple bold colored cake.

This cake stand had me at the bling. I am a lover of all things shiny. After looking past the bling I saw that the rest of the cake stand has a ton of detail that showcases great, even on its own. I can just imagine a more traditional tiered cake a top of this stand. Stunning!

I also found this little gem at My Sweet and Saucy. I love the clear glass; it almost looks like an ice sculpture. The beauty of this colorless stand is that it will not corner you into a style of cake. With that said, I think that this cake stand would look so pretty holding up a winter wedding cake.

This pottery cake stand from Vessel and Wares on Etsy is absolutely adorable. Is there anything sweeter than the lace trim around the edge? I love this cake stand because it has such pretty detailing without being fussy and I love that the base was kept so simple. I think a busier cake decked out in ruffles would be sweet (no pun intended) sitting on top of this cake stand.

February 12, 2012Dress Love

This dress is gorgeously feminine without being too frilly.

I love a substantial ball gown with a little bit of an edge to it and this dress has that and more…

The sweet heart neckline.

The ruffles.

The chapel train.

The ruffles.

The natural waist line accentuated with a jeweled belt!

Did I mention the ruffles?

December 30, 2011Cake Love

I still love black as a wedding color.  I think it’s timeless, elegant, and creates beautiful contrast with nearly every other colour.  When done right, it gives the feeling of timeless sophistication.

I’m in love with this cake currently!  I’ve always had a passion for geometric patterns!

One word of warning though – too much black icing/fondant on your cake, and you’ll have guests with blue teeth.  Eeep!

I love the classic shape of this shoe, combined with the ultra-modern blue & white + mesh.  Probably not 100% practical to wear for an entire wedding, but I love it anyways.

I’ve been stalking BHLDN since it was launched by Anthropologie last February.  I am smitten with this bridesmaid dress, partially because I think it would make a fab holiday cocktail dress as well!
